Day One - Arrival and settling-in

We arrived safely at the airport at 9.30 am Cambodian Time and met up with our local guide Mr Khorn.

Weather is hotter than back in Singapore and it takes some time to get used too. But the good thing is that the students are taking their own responsibility and drinking lots of water without much reminder to keep themselves hydrated and healthy.

We settled nicely into our cosy homestay and after lunch we went to visit last year's project site - Chuop Primary School. Our students had a wonderful time interacting with the students of Chuop Primary and could see for themselves how Chuop Primary had benefited from the previous years' projects. This gave them good motivation to do their best for Bak Pka Primary School!

We are having technical problems posting to this blog but will work around to keep everyone updated.

"The students go to school and are feed only porridge for breakfast. They walk all the way to school and are just fed that bowl of plain porridge. Yet here (in the homestay) we are fed rice and at least 3 varieties of food, but yet we are still complaining that we don't like certain food (like the vegetables). Need to appreciate what we have to eat and learn not to waste." - Mika, 3A5
